For the last few days, all the weather outlets have had the cone of uncertainty pointing towards Texas, while the state of Florida keeps getting pounded with heavy rain and winds.
Under different circumstances, I’d be vacationing on Siesta Key this week. But plans are meant to be broken, so rather than huddling in a hotel room on the Gulf Coast of Florida, I’m watching Debby soak a whole state from afar.
In my 30’s, my dream was to live on the beach. To wake up in the morning and go for walks on the cool sand while the ocean sounds calmed my nerves. That was then, now I haven’t any idea where I’d like to retire to. The changes in weather patterns of late have me wondering if there is any place where I would feel safe in my later years.
