Godzilla for $1.25

Went to the movies to see Godzilla for $1.25.

Godzilla 2014 DVD

On Tuesdays, the local Cinemark Theatre has all their movies for the low price of $1.25. These are movies that are a couple of months from their theatrical release, still fresh in our minds yet a month away from widespread DVD release.

For $5, I can take my family out for a movie. It sure beats paying $12 a person for the thrill of being one of the first to see the movie on it’s opening weekend. I can wait a couple of months, I’m in no hurry to blow 10 times as much money for an experience that lasts but a mere 2 hours.

Godzilla turned out to be a really good movie, a far cry from the TV version of him from the sixties. Thankfully there wasn’t the mind-numbing special effects from movies like the Transformers, where you leave the theatre and wonder what you just finished watching.

Next Tuesday, we’ll get to see Tom Cruise do his Groundhog Day impression. We have to take advantage of the $1.25 summer special, by fall the ticket prices may go back up to $2.00 ;)

With a purposeful grimace and a terrible sound
He pulls the spitting high tension wires down
Helpless people on a subway train
Scream bug-eyed as he looks in on them
He picks up a bus and he throws it back down
As he wades through the buildings toward the center of town
Oh no, they say he’s got to go go go Godzilla
Oh no, there goes Tokyo go go Godzilla
History shows again and again
How nature points up the folly of men
