New Year’s Resolutions

At the beginning of the year, I had 4 resolutions.

One ~ I have successfully gotten back to biking full time, just need to catch up with the blog posts. It took me four months to get back to some semblance of shape after sitting around for 3 years. I really missed riding, it’s a true pleasure.

Two ~ Found these little Heineken kegs at Publix the other day, great to put into the fridge for a frosty mug of beer. Afternoon Beer Breaks are still on and will always be, but hard liquor is few and far between.

Three ~ Fucking cigs, I hate them with a passion.

Four ~ Gina CMS, the little unknown project, and I like it that way for now.

Got vaccinated, had no choice, was thrown into Little Havana with the destitute.

What an experience to walk around the city of Miami in the wee hours of the morning and see where and how the homeless live. Miami, being a warm weather city, attracts many nomads and after a while you can distinguish the local homeless from the gypsies.

There are backpack homeless, shopping cart homeless and bicycle homeless in the city. The shopping cart contingent can carry more food, but the bicycle boys can travel inland to gather supplies and then spend the night under the bridge on the Rickenbacker. There are working homeless also, minimum wage workers who can’t save for an apartment.

Spent two months being a sort of nomad, a backpack for walkabouts, bicycle panniers for longer treks. Have learned how and what to pack, weight, either on foot or on the bike needs to be eyed, no heavy clothing, all dri-fit kinda wear.

4 months of walking and biking, and I’m ready for anything now.

Twenty Twenty One

Heading to Cuba, need to go before I get too damn old, like it happened to the generations before me. My grandfather wanted to go back and visit, as did my mother, neither got the chance. Have an Aunt still living there, wonder if I can take my bike?

Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
Well, that’s alright because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
Well, that’s alright because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
