My primary browser is now Firefox 3.1b3, ever since this third beta was released a week ago. I have no problems to report, the plugins I depend on work just fine and I found a new theme I really like, Chromifox Basic.
Firefox currently holds about a 25% market share, it’s only a matter of time when it surpasses Internet Explorer as the dominant browser, I have no doubt about it. Which got me to thinking about how far we’ve come from v1.0, the above splash screen should bring back memories to those that have been on this long strange trip.
The only stalwart in my house using IE was my wife. One day I installed the Vista-aero theme on Firefox and moved some stuff around on her start menu. She now runs my browser of choice, the locals couldn’t be happier that our only vulnerability to trojans, spyware and malware has gone poof.
With all the changes coming in Firefox 3.1, the Mozilla team decided to kick it up a notch and tag it as 3.5, thus the title of this post. I have to agree, there’s much to like about 3.5, especially the speed of the Javascript engine, Gmail feels smooth.
The exodus is here
The happy ones are near
Let’s get together
Before we get much older
