Snowmageddon 2014

Charlotte Snow - 02.12.2014

Southern cities are not accustomed to snow, they don’t have the equipment to cope with the falling white stuff. So when it snows, ditch the car, you’re on foot.

The snow started coming down yesterday and it’s still falling now, though it’s more of a mixture of snow and ice today. There are no cars on the road, all I see are kids playing out in the street. Brings back memories when we used to latch onto car bumpers and ski down the street with only our rubber boots, all the while choking on exhaust fumes. At my age, I still get a kick out of seeing the snowflakes come down, and I’ve been known to sled down a hill or two. You’re as old as you feel until you hit a tree.

Here in South Charlotte, I think there’s close to a foot of snow on the ground. I don’t see us doing much of anything but building snowmen until the weekend thaw. Fingers crossed that the power stays on, I’d hate to go days without heat.

I’ll soon be there with snow
I’ll wash my hair with snow
And with a spade of snow
I’ll build a man that’s made of snow
