Paid a visit to Best Buy today.
The LX7 arrived this morning via FedEx, so I packed up the LX8 and returned it to my local Best Buy. Behind the customer service counter were stacks of new slimmer PS3’s, awaiting the rush to buy them at $299.
The store had more employees than customers, which has been the norm any time I venture into consumer land. About the only store that appears packed is the Super Walmart, but most people are doing low prices all the time grocery shopping.
On this day, 8 years ago, the World Trade Center was hit by hijacked airplanes. The purpose of the strikes, according to translated Osama bin Laden tapes, was to bring down the World’s financial sector.
The hysteria of a post 911 world, the cost of two wars and the meltdown of the mortgage market led us to where we are today, stuck in a depressed state. The economy may well recover one day, but the damage is done.
